This is one of the only 1343 Corsair Convertible produced. The 1959 Edsel were introduced in the fall of 1958, the 59 Edsel styling was toned down significantly, as well as the vertical grille assembly, which now featured a fine bar pattern. The Corsair now represented the premium Edsel model.  Range replacing the discontinued. This Corsair Convertible rides on a 120" wheel base and powered by a 361 CU IN, 5.9 LTR V-8 engine with 2 barrel carbs, power steering, power brakes, Mile-O-Matic automatic transmission. The car is mostly original, the exterior body and paint was refinished in 2012 in its factory color combination, snow white over light aqua, new white convertible top which is powered. The car was completely disassembled and stripped down to bare metal, there were no signs of any major rust issues. The body and the undercarriage were in overall in excellent condition according to the local body shop in our area who specialize in antique classic car restorations. The exterior refinishing process took approximately 2 years, all the chrome bumpers are in original condition in very good condition but not perfect. They were installed back on the vehicle, the bright work and stainless was professionally buffed, polished and refinished and shows of a high lustre. New emblems, original dual side view mirrors. The potmetal is showing its age. Vacuum wipes work fine, AM radio, color keyed white/aqua interior, new front seat cover, new carpet, the instrument clustre, dash pad, chrome trim, potmetal trim are exceptionally clean. After market seat belts, front and rear, original door panels, original door hardware, the steering wheel was restored showing no cracks. The millage indicated shows, 72,234 which is actual. Looking at the glass it appears to be original including the windshield, all in great condition. Original window felts, new door weather stripe. Overall the body is considered straight with no waves, chips, dents or scratches in its newly refinished paint.  Factory hub caps with a new white wall radial tired. Looking under the hood the car 361 CU IN engines all original, new fuel pump, recent tune up plug points and spark plug wires, cap and rotor the engine runs excellent with no smoke or engine noise, it appears to have never been rebuilt or taken apart. The undercarriage and frame is detailed and is very clean and shows well. The frame, floors, rockers and floors braces are all original and looking at the cars bottom side it appears to have been garage kept! The trunk lock is stuck and we will have to go in from the back seat to open and repair the lock cylinder according to the owner of this car. We are offering this car at $29,900 but we are open for offers, on this limited production Corsair convertible. Looking at the cars overall condition it will need a few cosmetic items needed to be restored in order to make the car pristine, however it looks fantastic now with a little bit of "patina" as we call it. Over $50,000 spent already on the restoration of this fine gem. Mechanically sounds, all offers considered.
